N-Trouble

I have a 2012 Duramax with 25K miles that I use as a daily driver. My work commute is 2.5mi which is about how long it takes to get up to operating temp. This truck takes about 2x as long to get to operating temp as my previous 6.0 gasser. I have not experienced any issues but here are my observations.
1) Fuel mileage will suck. Diesels like gas are thirst until they get up to temp.
2) Regens will come more frequenty(fewer miles between regens).
The best thing I have found in dealing with regen is getting an Edge Insight CTS monitor so that I can monitor DPF soot levels. Knowing when a regen is about to kick in can help planning for that extended trip to complete the cycle.
In my opinion the towing benefits of the truck compared to my previous gas 2500HD outweigh what I would call minor inconveniences.
