The CVEO that taught some weight law classes I took, used a Toyota pickup as an example, but licensed it to 100,000 lbs pulling a trailer, blowing it up as it made the mile after pulling for 10 miles. No law against it!

Yup. I had a 2010 Tundra (loved it!) with a 7200 lbs GVWR. Maryland only offered 7000 lbs weight rating or 10,000 lbs weight rating. I paid a couple extra dollars and registered my Tundra for 10,000 lbs. I never loaded it to that weight, but it would have been perfectly LEGAL to do so.
