No argument there, was just putting some numbers out there so folks could see why and work the numbers for their system. While most panels work in the 17.6-18.2 V range, I've seen some panels in the 22V range which would really make the MPPT controller worth it.
I myself went with a PWM controller to keep the cost down as it was my first endeavor into solar. The most I see from my 100W panel and cheap Renogy PWM is 4.5A. My purpose was to help keep the battery charged in the storage yard to run the heater on the few days we go below freezing.
