I would rather tow a 5er slightly over TV GVWR, but under axle rating than to tow a long TT.
The 5er in my signature is 9,820# dry, 12,300 GVWR, and I tow it at 11,000# +/-! Mine tows great, pulls great I never feel a passing truck, or was I bothered by 30 mph wind directly off the Pacific. We drive some really narrow state highways with 55 mph speed limits that most run at 60+ and look like the picture below.
This is really your choice, but most diesel 3/4 tons have low payloads, mine is a Camper Special and has one springs.
