The base has stops built into it so you can't rotate it past 360 deg. You could always unscrew the base and reposition it so that the antenna will lay in the cradle at an angle with the wingman attached. I've seen a few antennas mounted like that!

Went to the storage yard today, and that would work.
If I lower it just outside the travel guides, I would have clearance.
I don't believe there is clearance enough for the " Jack"
I think I'll just live with it the way it is, for a while, and see how much I will actually need it.
