Winnebago/Sunnybrook new rv issues?

So Sunnybrook partners with Winnebago. Good thing or not? So far... I'd say NOT.

We attended the Hershey RV show in Sept 2013 and purchased a Sunnybrook Sunset Creek 330bhts. This is a new model that had yet to be manufactured other than the model at the show. We ordered there and it wasn't until this past November before we picked it up and brought it home. It was winterized and we just now(April) took it out for a 5 day trip in Myrtle Beach.

I don't know who or what is going on at the factory out in Indiana, but someone needs a good yelling at out there. The list of things that have gone wrong is unbelievable for a brand new rv:
- water leak into the master bedroom
- bunk bed broke after my 120 lb son slept the first night on it.
- leak under kitchen sink
- bathroom shower door bottom plastic water flap broken
- fridge won't light on gas
- outside kitchen door latches won't latch on 2 of the 3 latches
Shall I continue?
- floor vent screw was stripped. but I fixed it
- cracked wood in kitchen
- light over the table is way off center(not a big deal, but it shows a pattern)
- light in bedroom flickers on and off at will
- license plate in back slightly covers the water input making it difficult to screw in hose

Needless to say, it's going in for warranty repairs. My wife and I both agree that we love the design, but the quality and craftsmanship that went into building this needs some definite improving! Anyone else experience anything similar?
  • We ordered a 2014 Winnebago Minnie 2101DS and picked it up March 5. We ordered it to get the colors that we wanted and the rear ladder factory installed. It was also built in Indiana, maybe the same plant where yours was.

I have gone over it very thoroughly and have been very satisfied with the quality and workmanship. The only thing that I had warranted was the mattress on the queen size bed. It was poorly made memory foam that would not recover after sleeping on it. The replacement that we got has been excellent.
Sorry to hear of your problems and hope they correct them.
  • Be sure to post this at www.myrvtalk.com where more SB owners lurk.
  • Unfortunately, we had a really bad winter... along with my son's brutal hockey schedule... so getting out between Dec and April just wasn't feasible this year. Yeah, we knew of a few minor issues that weren't noticed til after we got home. But as you know, taking it out the first time always shows other issues or not. We're just amazed at how many issues there are. Some are just inexcusable. Water leaks and latches not locking are just poor workmanship in the factory. Again, love the rv... just hate having to deal with something that should have been taken care of even before it got to the dealer. :(
  • Very frustrating and I agree...poor quality control.

Was all stuff checked by the dealer before and during your walk-through inspection?..

Also, I have learned from owning 4 new trailers that it's a good idea to use a new unit immediately after picking it up. Storing it and waiting months and months until it's first use is using up valuable warranty time and is asking for trouble. (there is always some issues that need attention on a new rig.)

Anyway, good luck with it. Take picture of everything, document everything and get it back to the dealer asp.
