a friend wired his own RV outlet box. to His New Georgetown.. took out the refrigerator, 2 flat screen TV's, Stereo Radio... 1 Air conditioner
HE took it as a regular 220 volt system... and fed 220 volts into his RV.
Hire a pro..
You do understand that even "PROs" tend to make a lot of mistakes when it comes to properly wiring RV outlets?
The mistake your friend made was mixing three wire 220 vs FOUR WIRE 220/110..
Three wire 220 has two Hots (L1 and L2, Red/ Black), and equipment ground (Bare/green)..
FOUR wire 220/110 has two Hots (L1 and L2, Red/black), NEUTRAL (white), equipment ground (bare/green)..
RV 50A USES FOUR WIRE 220/110.. SO, technically a 50A RV DOES "use" 220 but the appliances in the RV are 110 so they use the two legs of L1 and L2 as 110V each.
Personally, though, to me I do think the OP NEEDS to seek a licensed electrician.. This is not a task that a non seasoned backyard DIYer should be tackling without some help.
Not knowing and or understanding what you are doing while reaching into an old fuse box or even a breaker box can easily kill you or cause a fire.
Adding a small sub panel with breakers in it to feed the RV outlet would be my personal choice rather than using two separate fuses..
Reason for this is the fact that if only one fuse blows you are left with ONE HOT line..
That is not safe nor desirable on many levels.
With ganged breakers BOTH L1 and L2 will be tripped off, a much, much safer way to go about this.
