Safe wiring is not something to be learned after the fire trucks have left.
As a licensed electrician, I'd recommend hiring a qualified licensed electrician.
Personally I am scared of old wiring of that era. Insulation that old can be so brittle, it crumbles if when you touch it.
If you just want to run the refrigerator, lights and maintain batteries(no AC), get a 240v 50a to 120v 15 amp dog bone and plug into a standard 20amp receptical.
