Passinthru, perhaps "whining" is a bit over the top -- we're "discussing." ;)
And a pop-up is of course a possibility, but it is not ideal in snow or rain, nor it is permitted in some campgrounds in grizzly country.
I will check out those other niche companies, Jim. Someone suggested converting a cargo trailer, also. Yes, that is possible, but it costs a lot, takes a lot of time and expertise, and cargo units are usually heavy and not really well insulated. I am talking about the need for a main-stream manufacturer to step up and fill a hole in the market, a hole that used to be filled by Fun Finder and Cikira and other companies.
I guess the ultimate answer is that if those companies thought they could sell rugged little boxes, they would already be doing exactly that. Their market research must indicate that the critical mass of customers is simply not in that segment of the trailer market.
