Wooden ramps

I have a trailer with the wide spread axels.
The short plastic blocks I have aren't going to be long enough. Has anyone made some that they would care to share a picture of. I'd like to make some that are stackable with pins in them to keep them from sliding if wet.
  • Take a look at Andersen Levelers. A lot less to carry, IMHO. I ditched my legos for them. I still carry a 2x10, also, just in case the ground is soft.
  • I spent most of a day making these and in hind sight, and would not do it again. (Pic comes from an old posting on here I think)? You'll need four. If you go with one long ramp for each side. They get really heavy, and really, really heavy when they get wet. Not to mention the mud. I would stay with something that is easy to clean and not wood.

Anyway, after thinking I would have something I could use for many years, they did not last. Wood started cracking just after a couple years, then they really fell apart. Your luck might be better.

If using where you park, like at your house they might last longer and one piece ramps for each side might be OK.

  • Another vote for the Anderson levelers. I was hesitant to buy them, but they are one of my best buys. Never left me wanting, and I can watch my level through the back window as I drive on to them.
  • Thanks responders one and all. I had not screen these, the video looks great. Has anyone had issues with not enough travel? If so what did you do?

Some people still carry a length of 2x10 with them, that'll give them another 1.5 inches. I made my own andersen levelers and I must say, they are super easy to use. As stated earlier, put a large bubble level on the front of the trailer and drive up/watch in the mirror. It only takes a few seconds now.
  • Also a convert to Anderson levelers. Not cheap, but leaving behind the stack of boards was worth it. In addition there is no on/off/on/off as I try combos to be perfectly level. Just drive onto them till ur level and chock/block your wheels. Couldn't be simpler and I believe a max of 4" lift

    Daryll
  • A five foot 2x12 and a four foot 1x10 sit in the storage hold. Simple, cheap, effective and up to 3 inches of lift.

I rarely like to complicate the a simpler approach.
