Wooo hooo Picking up our camper Tuesday!

We have finally done it ! We pulled the trigger and brought a Shamrock 21dk!!!! WE have to drive to Indiana to get it put who cares! Got a steal on it.
I'm so excited I don't know what to do first! Yikes
Ya'll help me out,, what other stuff do we need to take with us when we pick it up?
Got the prodigy p3 put on
Got the Tranny cooler on
Got the tow mirrors coming hopefully monday along with the chocks.
What else do we need to take?
  • We brought from Colerain RV in Indiana. We live in Lousiana so it will be a 11 hour trip.
Plan on stopping at the KOA in Terre Haute IN for the first night.
  • Congrats on your purchase! Just bring a few changes of clothes, bedding, and mainly simple foods, like hot dogs, smores making stuff, some chips, maybe a box of cereal, you know... simple food, and a few utensils and dishes.. Its easy enough to swing into a store like wally world to pick up any other foods, as well as a minimal selection of camping accessories. Take along a notebook, and make a list of things you find your lacking on your first couple trips and soon you'll be fully stocked. Where did you buy from, and how far away are you from the dealer?
  • Where is home? As noted, depends on what you do after you leave the dealership as to what you will need. Good suggestions noted though.
  • Chemicals for the black tank, if you'll be using that. Make sure the current owner is including the power cord. If you have to stop overnight, check to see that you don't need any adapter for their power source. Yes, also water pressure regulator and power gauge - I know that's not the right name, but you plug it in and it lets you know what the power supply coming into the trailer is - whatever that thing is called, get one. FWIW, we leave ours plugged into a very visible outlet all the time - sometimes power at campgrounds will drop and you'll need to shut off the A/C or other.

A bottle of wine to celebrate getting this new trailer home and safely in the driveway would be nice! Congrats and happy camping.
  • Congrats. As mentioned, are you asking about what you need to camp or just get it home?
When we bought ours, the trailer came with a starter package. TP, short fresh water hose, waste dump slinky, little jug of waste tank destinker, maybe a couple other items. Needed to add a water pressure regulator and a 20 amp to 30 amp adapter.

You'll need chocks of some sort if you're just bringing it home.
  • Good. If you're planning to camp on the way home with it, you may want a water hose or two (I'd recommend a good, non-kinking hose - remember to get the white ones made for drinking water! - at least 15 feet long; 20-25 feet is better.) I would guess the dealer will be able to suggest items you will need, and may sell them there too.

    Enjoy your new toy! :)
  • Yep,, they are putting on a Equalizer when we pick it up!
    So darn excited!
  • Congratulations!

I'd strongly recommend arranging for a weight-distributing hitch when you pick up the camper. We needed one when we had our hybrid, which was about the same size as the one you're getting. If you're buying from a dealer, they may be able to help you with it. If from a private party, then you'll need to get a hitch from an RV dealership or service shop, or perhaps a hitch shop if there's one available. You might check online to see what's available near your home, as well as where you're getting the camper.
