I just came across this thread and see 7 pages that I just cant take the time to read!
We had the same concern as the OP, and this was one big reason I installed a Maxair fan with thermostat control. We leave one vent open when we leave the dog for the day and set the fan thermostat to 78, so if the temps go over 78 it will kick on the fan and at least keep the temps near the same as the outside while running on battery.
But honestly...this worry is pretty beyond anything that would every happen. One, it would have to be DANG hot outside, power failure at the campground (never happened yet) is rare, and the dogs left alone all day at peak times...long enough to cook'em? For all those star to align....wow....that day would be one heck of a day!
