- Johno02ExplorerThis was one of our big concers, so we installed a thermostatic controlled Fantastic Fan. We leave it open, and the thermostat set somewhat above the normal temperature. We also leave at least one of the other vents open, or sometimes a rear window or two open a bit. The idea is, and t works, that if power goes off and temps go up, the fan which is on the battery, will keep a bit of air moving, and take the hottest air out the vent. This way, the inside gets no hotter than the outside air. We know this works, as we leave the fan on when we are parked at home with ac off, and the fan keeps the heat from building up.
- harold1946ExplorerI installed an AGS (automatic generator start) system as a back up. If the power fails the genny will take over.
- DougEExplorerBeen there. Was down the Florida Keys and had the campground transformer fail while we were out roaming. Great idea about the phone number. I got out of the pet business but would now carry a large crate or fenced enclosure I could put in the shade but then you might run into the unsupervised, noisy pet issue.

I always worry about my a/c failing while we're out and the dogs cooking in the camper. The campground could lose power or any number of things could cause the a/c to fail. Do you worry when you're gone about pets? Any ideas?
Yes, we worry also, but in 8 years of full timing and many trips away from the trailer, it has never happened.
What we do is notify the gate/office that we are leaving for a couple of hours and if the electricity should fail, please call us on our cell phone.
We leave our number written down with them on a slip of paper. That same information is posted, including if there is excessive barking, to call us, on the camper.
Good idea about posting a phone number! I'll start doing that. One other problem we have is that we ride motorcycles and a lot of the time we don't have cell service. I've even camped where there is no cell service. - Dog_FolksExplorer II
