Would a carrier on front of truck like this work?

Providing the truck has an acceptable payload capacity, would a front carrier like this work okay? And wouldn't it help to get more weight back onto the steer axle anyway?

I've been wondering for quite a while, I have a small vintage car that I would love to take to a meet down in Oregon along with our TT. The car would only weigh another 100-200 lbs more than a Harley, is under 8' long front to back plus our F250 could handle the extra weight. With a custom built carrier this would work, right? I could easily see through the side windows, unlike the bike in the photo. I've got a MIG welder and can weld pretty good too. Not sure about getting up Grants Pass tho.

  • Your could put helium in the front truck tires and car tires, that would lighten the load. :B
  • I was thinking it would help if I left DW and the dog at home, not put anything in the bed and get groceries when I get there.
  • I put a front bumper hitch on my car. It is rated 5000 lbs. pulling and 500 lbs. tongue weight.

Though it is usually intended for wench type service, it is very handy for a front bicycle mount.

Contrary to popular belief front mounting objects is not illegal or unsafe, as is often seen in snow plows, boat hauling front mounts and such.

I suppose a safety issue could be raised if one is dumb enough to severely restrict their vision or handling but then again, even with good mirrors, a TT severely impacts ones rear vision.

If it was a F250 truck, not one of those shabby SUVs where it would be dangerous by being overweight of course, what else should even be considered beyond the weight as printed in the manual?

Posted only in the 'spirit of the day' of course, there is more to the world than just the weights in the owner's manual. :B

That has got to be illegal. And you are proposing putting a car there? Double illegal.

You DO realize that TODAY is "APRIL FOOLS DAY"?

It is most likely a JOKE..

Heck, even that carrier with the motorcycle is so wrong in so many ways like blocking the headlights and turn signals..
  • Not only illegal.

It's an ACCIDENT looking for a place to happen!!!!!:S:E

    C.B.
