I had one, great truck and pulled upwards of 10k no issues. It's been debated before, but the 1500hd is the standard 2500 all the way around. Not the HD but standard 2500. Put them both beside each other, from top to bottom, side to side, mechanical, frame, diff, ect are the same. That truck has an 8600gvwr and has an awesome payload. Despite having the semi floater rear with 14 bolt 9.5 ring gear, that truck is stout. It will pull better then the 5.3 hands down. It will stay in gear longer while pulling the grades verse the 5.3. Yes it will drink fuel, but ultra reliable and will get the job done. I just recently upgraded to my current truck, but overall was happy with my previous 1500hd. Pm me if you need to for any further questions.
