Hi folks, At the risk of starting another flame war, or diesel vs gas thread ... I'd like to hear from people who actually own and tow with these trucks. No I'm not selling my 7.3 anytime soon but...

I would imagine the cost to change gears from 3.73 to 4.3 would be substantial, and through the roof if it is a 4 X 4.
One thing I neglected to mention when towing my roughly 11K gross weight 5th wheel using my 3.73: I 'lock out' the 6th gear. With the newer Fords with the 6.2 engine, you can determine the highest gear by just pushing a button. It just wants to shift too much between 5th and 6th gears if I don't lock out 6th.
And by doing so, I would imagine I am running similar engine RPM's as if I had a 4.3 and stayed in 6th. If I wasn't so lazy I could look up the ratio numbers and determine the accuracy of that statement, but what I know is: it works just fine for me.
