Dave, I wouldn't look at it that way.
Other threads have indicated that mileage isn't all that different going from 3.73 to 4.30. And the factory specs show that the tow weight for a 5th wheel go from 12.4K to 15.4K with that axle ratio. Who knows how one's tow needs might change in the next few years?
I saw a 5th wheel I just loved a year ago, that 4.3 is rated to pull but mine cannot. So it put the brakes on any next step, as I'm not going to take the hit on trading off a one year old truck.
On the more optimistic note, I guess my 3.73 saved me a bunch of money! :@
I've heard the same thing about 4.30 vs 3.73 on tow mileage - I think I'd like the 4.30 to have the option of towing heavier someday, but when the shopping starts it might be hard to turn down a deal on a 3.73 truck. Maybe the 3.73 will keep me on a trailer diet :)

I have a 2011 F-350 Lariat CC 4x4 with the 6.2 and 3.73 rear. We are pulling a 2012 Laredo 303TG (35' w/ a GVWR of 9,000) and it is a very comfortable ride. As others have mentioned, unless it is flat ground without a head wind, I will lock 6th out and cruise along at 2k rpms. So far we have been through WV and the Gatlinburg area and it was an easy pull. The big hills hit the gas gauge, but I have never felt low on power. In fact, I might like the towing as much as the camping!
Wow! can you share what highways you've been on through WV? I towed from Greenville,SC up to Stonewall Jackson State Park and that seemed tough on the truck. I thought after Fancy Gap it was over but the fun was just getting started ... plenty of hills on I-77 / US19 / I-79! Felt like I was constantly revving that old engine by having to drop to 3rd (and 55mph)...
