Water pump specs are rarely posted, just size of freshwater tank from which water pump draws. You can be sure the manufacturer will just install the unit that minimizes their costs, my stock Sureflo is still going strong after 9 years and is used extensively even when campsite provides water.

When looking at matching a tow vehicle to a particular TT, it's more advantageous to look at the GVWR of the rig you intend to tow. The empty or dry weight is subjective anyway. Although you may not load to the GVWR, anything less becomes added safety margin if tow vehicle is properly sized.

I don't have the specs in front of me (available @trailerlife.com) but I'm sure someone is towing similar. It would be a load for the Excursion no doubt, and towing comfort would not be ideal. Climbing hills and accelerating onto highways may prove challenging for this combo.

I tow a Jayco 33RLDS with a 2002 Ford Excursion, 3:73. Tows great. Getting into traffic is real good, going up a 8 percent 6 mile hill we get down to about 39 miles per hour. We are towing about 17,000 pounds gvwr. I do have a super chips program in the puter, a new Y-Pipe and a K-N air system. But the biggest asset is the set up on the hitch is right on the money. Big trucks pass me and the truck moves maybe 1/4 in only. goes down the road straight and actually tows better than the Heartland we had.

That trailer loaded will have a tongue weight over 1,100 lbs., that is adding 1000 lbs. of gear etc. to the trailer (8900) and figuring 13% of that as tongue weight. Once you add gas, people and stuff to your SUV, I would say there's no way you'll have enough payload to tow that trailer.

Excursion is a very capable tow vehicle. However, I believe some add or upgrade to a Hellwig sway bar for a little more control. I think you'll be fine though.

Upon further review the payload rating on your '00 Excursion is listed at 1,710 based on its curb weight (what it weighed from the factory). The only way to know if that's a good number is to weigh it at a truck scale with a driver and a full tank of gas and subtract that number from the vehicles GVWR which can be found on a sticker on the drivers door frame. There may be after market items added to the vehicle which would make it heavier therefore subtracting from its payload capacity. If you don't do that you take a chance on buying a trailer that will overload your tow vehicle! An overloaded vehicle will be hard to control and stop and will put you and your family and others around you at risk!

It will be at the max for your X. Mine is equipped the same.
As far as the pump goes you may have to look at one in person or make a call to a dealer.

We tow 9000lb empty trailer in ours.... it is great.....

The X is very capeable. However the hitches on the 00 and 01 I think are only rated to 10k lbs. the 02 and up were rated to 12,500 lbs. the only difference is the mounting hardware on the later ones are larger to carry more weight. Swapping out the hardware will get you the higher rating on the hitch.

An 8000lb dry trailer will weigh approx 9500lbs loaded for a trip. I can tell you from experience the v-10 with 3.73's towing 9500lbs will not be fun. It will do it, but it will struggle and you won't be in the powerband for best performance. I went from 3.73 and it was a night and day difference!

My trailer is 7100 lbs empty and 9200 loaded for a trip. The X likes 4.30 gears to tow anything over 8k lbs and it needs 4.30's for anything near 9 k lbs and over!

A lot of people modify the rear suspension to tow heavy! Some install SD truck springs some use air bags. I use air bags and I installed a Hellwig rear away bar (my X didn't have a bar from the factory!). The X can be finicky to tow with, but when set up properly is one of the best HD SUV's to tow with. And a tuner from 5star tuning will give even better performance out of the V-10.

You'll also want a good hitch. I use and highly recommend the Reese Straight Line (Dual Cam). I have towed up to 12 hours straight and it's comfortable the entire time!

With the right setup-you're not going to haul your trailer with a more capable SUV...I'm about to install my second set of Superduty springs on my X-I rolled past the 300K mark a while ago and it's time...anyhow, I run F350 'B' code springs on the rear and 'V' codes up front. I have an aftermarket Curt hitch installed as well since my hitch rusted out long ago. Front and rear stabilizer bars keep things taught. I highly recommend inspecting all of your suspension components as well as your hitch-both of which, if are original, may be in line for upgrade. Not trying to worry you-but I will tell you that with proper maintenance you will not find an SUV that will haul your trailer the way that the X will...as far as the V10 goes and the gearing, I can't tell you much-but an old V10 Excursion is definitely a hefty and economical(to purchase) 1 ton that will tow a heavy travel trailer nicely.
