My concern would be even the damage due to salt. I pulled my boat once with salt on the road and the aluminum trim pitted for many years after. I also did not have any method of washing all of it off immediately so it needed to sit until the weather improved. I would not want this to happen to any of the trim on a new camper so I would wait for the damage as well as the safety issues.
