We have stored our RVs at 3 different privately owned storage lots. The first lot was basically a dirt lot with a fence. No problems except when it rained one section would puddle and mud up (not where we parked).
Second lot was very secure but the rented moving trucks. Unfortunately the trucks were parked near where our RV was stored. Our RV was hit twice by renters driving the moving trucks.
The lot we are in now we have been in for 15 years and have had no problems. The spaces are 12 feet wide and 40 feet long. All spaces are angled for ease of parking. It has a wash rack, potable water spigot and dump station.
We basically leave the RV fully loaded ready to go. We bring food from home in an ice chest along with other items like iPads, laptop, sat receiver and any clothes we need other than what is already in the RV. It's just a matter of hooking up the trailer and go. The storage lot is on the way to the highway.
