I think you need to look again. There are pop-ups that do contain SOME of these things you say are non-existent.

The 2 most expensive areas are the lift system and the roof. The roof on the Jay Flights is no less expensive offering trusses and ducting for the AC along with skylights.
Lift system is the only real expensive.
So if it were a smaller travel trailer the expense would not be a rip off, but next to a 'tent' trailer, yes.
When I bought my older 2008 Jay Flight 19BH (22.5'), it was only $1000 less than the 26BH, which I didn't have a capable enough truck to tow at the time. The only difference between the 2 was that the 26BH added a queen bedroom ahead of the sofa, everything else was EXACTLY the same. They probably sold more 26BHs so the cost difference was smaller.
Same thing today: 19RD MSRP = $19,650 (19RD replaced 19BH) ; 22FB MSRP = $20,021 ; 26BH MSRP = $20,721
