What's a ripoff to some is a great deal to others. That's the beauty of capitalism. A company can offer a product at a price they want and the consumers can decide whether it is worth it to them. I personally think a $300 purse is more than a ripoff, but my wife is always saying what a great deal they are when we are at Nordstrom. :) For me a PuP doesn't meet my needs(or I should say my wife's). But they certainly have benefits. My brother has a PuP and wouldn't trade it for a TT. He can camp pretty much where ever he wants and never has to think twice about where to get gas or if a road is okay with the trailer. Not to mention the gas savings of pulling one and it is super nice to be able to basically open the whole trailer. Basing the "value" on something just based on square footage doesn't work. A nice 2 person backpacking tent may run $300, which for some would be a huge ripoff when you can go to Walmart and get a big 2 room 8 person tent for $200.
