You also might want to consider that you may not be able to use your generator when you want to as most camp grounds have generator run time restrictions in place. Here on the East side of the US it is usually only from 8AM-10AM in the morning and then again from 4:30PM to 7:30PM in the early evening. Not much time for air conditioners.
Some of the Natl Forest in our area here will allow generators from 8AM to 8PM but this is not at all places. None of the Natl forest areas will allow generators after 8PM.
There is no public place that I have been too that will allow you to run a generator all night long...
Check with some of your places you might be going to...
With this in mind what most folks do is beef-up the batteries to run Inverters for all the 120VAC items they want to run camping off the power grid and 12VDC items directly from the batteries and then just use a 2KW Honda type quiet generator to recharge their batteries back up to 90% charge state in a three hour short generator run time the next morning when allowed to do so. This requires a smart-mode technology charging system.
This is how we had to get around the generator run time restrictions. Private places no problem but at most camp grounds and Natl Forest areas around these hills all have generator run times restrictions. Out West its abit different as there is alot of primitive, dispersed camping wide open areas there where you sort of do what you want to do...
Just passing on info you might not be aware of being a new member. We only use our air conditioners at regular electric camp grounds...
