Maybe I'm one of the weird ones. Here in Texas, if I'm sleeping in my TT, either I'm using electric for a hookup, or have my generator running the AC. The 3000 watt Yamaha will run the A/C for about eight hours on a three gallon tank, so that is about $10 or so, assuming normal gas prices.
My advice: Don't get a 3000 watt generator, as it will run the A/C, but it will bog and overload when the generator gets socked by the compressor's inrush current. If portability is an issue, go for a pair of Honda 2000 watt generators. If one wants remote start, look at the Yamaha 3000SEB (which uses the battery's 500 watts for 8 seconds to help with inrush current), or a EF4500SE model which definitely has the oomph to handle a compressor.
