Yellow marks on ceiling

We have a brand new Coachmen Apex Travel Trailer - 2014. We have noticed three yellow spots on our ceiling. There are 2 in the bedroom and one over the dinette. None of these marks are near vents or openings. Our trailer is constructed with Azdel composite panels. We're thinking that it could be the adhesive that was used in production of the panels. Hoping it's not water. Any thoughts?

  • We had exactly the same thing on the ceiling of our new Keystone back in 2011...it was just adhesive and it took the dealer 5 minutes to take it off with adhesive remover. I found some other spots on the walls...it was tan wood patch putty used to fill in some tiny nail holes. It was water-soluble and I took it off with a damp rag.

It's not due to smoking for sure. It is brand new and neither one of us smokes. I have tried to use one of these white magic eraser sponges, but it doesn't work on this mark. We have taken pictures of it and sent it to our dealer for documentation. In fall, we will have to bring it in. I can't imagine if they have to take down the whole ceiling...

my bad - missed that is was a new TT - definitely bring back to dealer and get defect fixed
  • I would be willing to bet that it is like those I saw years back that had glue seeping thru the headliner. it is a manufacturing defect and should be fixed by the mfr.

  • Any chance it could be from smoking? People could smoke in bed and at the dinette.
  • probably adhesive from sticking the covering up to the ceiling. I remember seeing one motorhome that had to be shipped back to california (National maybe??) because the ceiling had many such splotches on it. I considered offering them an insulting low price for it and would just use fabric/vinyl spray to color it evenly.

  • It is the adhesive. Pretty much impossible to remove, at least I never had any success with one of these spots on our old trailer.
  • Probably adhesive and poor quality check by the manufacturer and dealer. Take it to the dealer they will make it right.
