I wonder if the person with the broken spring drilled their overload to install it. Maybe they heated the metal and lost the temper? I also have not heard of a broken leaf spring.
I broke a leaf spring once front end of a Chevy blazer that someone before me did a poor mans lift kit on, by putting a (short) 3rd leaf under the 2 full length factory leafs.
Did great holding up my 8’ old school Western plow (heavy) with steel wings, total 10’ wide.....until it didn’t. Snapped the lower full leaf right at the end of the short redneck engineering leaf.
Point is, new F350, lightweight camper = don’t worry about it until at least the year 2040 or 500,000 miles, whichever comes first!
