Eagle Cap 950 single slide owner here. On my 2013 model the slide motor is under the located on the inside of the camper not exposed to the weather.
Camped this last winter in 20 degree weather, like mentioned above, the basement is heated really good, I have a remote temp sensor located at the very back of the basement, the farthest from the heat source and it stays within a few degrees of the living quarters.
I was only looking at the AF and EC, bought the EC for all of the reasons mentioned above and I would like to add the EC had a trash can storage solution!
It is amazing that non of the rest had anything like it. I've owned several RV's and if you have you can appreciate where is the trash can is going to be stored and can it be larger than a 1 gallon paint bucket!
