Arctic Fox vs Eagle Cap

Hi,

Can any one speak to the question of how the Arctic Fox and Eagle Cap (late models) compare for boon docking in winter conditions periodically.

I'm looked at a slider unit, and had been strongly considering an Arctic Fox.

What say yea?

Thanks again,
Bill

  • Our Arctic Fox has performed well in sub freezing weather. I expect for most people they will work fine for winter camping. If you want to look an extreme case you can take a look at this post by INSP1505 who lived in his AF1150 for two winters in Idaho

  • I believe the Eagle Cap uses a Schwintek slide mechanism and that mechanism is exposed to the weather when the slide is out. Arctic Fow uses a Power Gear which is under the slide and out of the weather.
  • We've winter camped in our 2011 AF 1140 and had no problems. Temps down to -10 deg. F. We haven't added any insulation or done any mods to deal with cold conditions.
  • Love our AF. Built well and insulated well. My slider seems to be sealed pretty well when in the opened position.
