Howdy!
Rasta, I am upgrading my electrical as well. Trying to convert all my electrical toys to 12 volts.
Finding most 5volt devices can be run off usb cable with aid of a new connector from Radio Shack.
Hue lights are pretty neat as well, but need 24 volts. Goodness, just received a small converter for that. The AppleTV will have to take a complete breakdown and rip out the old power transformer.
I have thought alot about solar. Flexible thin film technology would be the way I would go. Peel n Stick type stuff.
