Ram MegaCab with slide-in truck camper

Any Newer (2015-2017) Ram MegaCab 3500 SRW owners with slide-in truck campers?
We have very specific needs and am hoping to make this combo work.
Looking at Northstar campers with COG at 32 inches (front of bed to center of rear axle). Thanks for your help!
  • Those were terms used in that RAM camper load guide link that was posted above.
  • Agree, don't get the 2500! I looked at one the other day and the max payload on the door tag was 1900LBs.... 3500 and you get upwards of 4k pounds
  • ^ ???
The newer megas will haul almost any shortbed camper with ease.
Reccomend going 3500 vs 2500 for the leaf springs or air assist option.
Less suspension mod options for the 2500 with coils and the 2500 air ride maxes out at about 4000lbs by one persons report who uses it as a hot shot hauler.
  • Ok, I give up
What's the difference between bucket box and bench box??
Got something to do with SRW vs DRW??
  • I have a 2006 3500 Mega Cab with diesel that I carried an Outfitter Apex 8 on for a few years until my lovely bride said no more so now I am carrying a Northern Lite 811 which handles great.
    I do have air bags.
I use the camper mostly for fishing trip and disasters.Love the combo.
  • I have a 2015 RAM 3500 SRW MegaCab with 6.7 CTD and an Outfitter Apex 8 camper. Can't hardly tell the camper is on there with absolutely no mods on suspension or anything else. Handling, power, braking (especially with the exhaust brake) is perfect.

Take a look at the RAM Camper Loading Guide here for COG and loading info. And take a look at the RAM Payload Charts here. Scroll down to the 3500 SRW MegaCab for payloads.

    I love my truck!
