Roof Storage for Older Adventurer

Hello--Just purchased a 2006 Adventurer 810WS. First question is if you have one how do you like it? Second question is it has the U shaped roof bars on top of the camper and I'm wondering if there is a type of enclosed storage case that fits those bars. Thanks!

  • I have a older 1991 Slumber queen, which is the original adventurer, and I wish I had thoes bars.  we are going to buy a new adventurer and we are getting the factory to add the storage rack.  I don't know of anything spicificly designed for them, I imagin you could find somthing if you look hard enough.  what I have seen is people building woden boxes or buyign plastic then using emp clamps to hold them to the bars, or ratchet straps (I would be carefull with ratchet straps though )

myself, I want them so I can fasten my solar panels to the rack and have them raised above the vents and such.

Potential roof leaks with those roof bar bases are bad enough but add tons of vibration from a roof box attached to them would ensure a leak at some point.

By the same token, shouldn’t roof mounted air conditioners, solar panels, maxaire fan, and every other roof mounted accessory also leak?

In my experience, roof leaks are more often due to defective roof sealant maintenance. Like most everything, installation and maintenance, and knowing its limitations are key.

  • Never seen something specific designed for that. And imo not meant for heavy or long term use. Think about wear on the roof material and wind resistance when the air and wind speed is trying to rip it off of the roof.
I’ve carried little bbqs or a plastic tote strapped down up there without issue many times though.
