Following the heed of my southern California friends here, I prepared for the weather change, again. The day dawned here in the Mojave Desert, southeast of Jawbone, but I knew that was going to change and soon.
Two weeks ago I pulled out of camp to drive down to Lance Campers, meeting with their group on upcoming projects with them and meeting LaDawn and Brian Towell, for a few nights of Brian drinking up all my beer! (Hey that is DJs job!) On the way down from camp, I buried my rear wheels in a dry creek bed, still damp from a recent rain event. I came to a quick halt. Locking in the front wheels, my 4X4 showed why it is great to have it, when you need it and the extra weight on the wheels for traction, my truck walked right out, leaving a drag mark from my Diff pumpkin in the wet sand and mud.
Also another treat to riding into town, meeting another TC enthusiast ("Yep, I know of RV.net, but I'm not registered, I just like to check it out and Lurk.") and his family heading for a long weekend in the Mojave Desert too, with their 5 & 7 y.o. boys along.
Coming back a week later, I knew with this storm I better ride into town, this morning, and get some mail posted. Plus another carton of Chocolate milk. While I can ride the bike in wet mud stuff, I choose to avoid it. So with the walking boards set out (ramp boards set to the trailer from the TC) everything stowed and the windows open to watch the world, I prefer never to have my windows covered. I'm ready for the unusual weather event, rain and snow brings to the desert. While the previous week has had nights in the mid 20s, good preparation assures comfort during these type of weather events. Snowing now and more coming. Love my Truck Camper and the world it provides me to explore.
Hope more will take the opportunity to extend their seasons, where they can, enjoying their campers and the different weather events.
