I repaired the "non-repairable" fan motor in our Coleman AC.
Fan failed to start last Sunday. Prices ranged from 140 to 170. Didn't have anything to lose.
Took it apart. It had bushings instead of bearing. The seized bushing pulled out of the motor end bell rather than off the shaft. It was held in with a spring washer, bushing mount, and rivets. Cleaned the shaft, gently worked the bushing back and forth using oil, and got it off. Shafts and bearings weren't damaged.
Seems the only issue was the grease dried up. (10 years old)
Drilled the rivets out of the bushing mount and re-installed the bushing using screws. Repacked the both bushings with new grease and fiber packing. Re-install in the AC.
It's running much quieter than any time since we bought it 2 year ago. It probably took 3 hours.
