- kerry4951ExplorerInstalled basement heat and fan to work off of 110 volt if and when I camp with hook ups. Hit one switch in the hallway and I got both on.
- sue_tExplorerSwept 14" of snow off the roof.
It's been -34F outside, with the occasional warm-up. Still hoping to drive & camp the Dempster Highway and ice road to Tuktoyaktuk this February. - wintersunExplorer IIDisconnected the panels from the C-box on the roof and removed the charge controller which evidently has a bad firmware level which needs the EPROM chip replaced with an update. Would have liked to had room for a cut-off switch in the C-box (next time will use a larger box).
Don't have to winterize where I am in California but there are also a absence of large garages or barns or work sheds so everything is done outside in the wind and weather. Very envious when I see a truck with its camper on board sitting inside a well lit and heated garage. How nice that would be for working on projects. - KidooExplorerInstalled my modified muffler. I used some plumber fittings and installed an automobile type mesh flex tubing. The muffler is much more quiet now. I think the flex and the thicker tubing makes a difference.
Got the camper on the truck and I am ready for Christmas camping after the Christmas night party, forecast is 0F, minus 20C. - narcodogExplorer IIPulled a boner today. A couple of weeks ago I drained my FW tank and low points. I was not ready to winterize it completely at the time, there was no need. Anyway today it was time. Last year I used a half a gallon to do the job so I still had a half left. Threw the bypass valves turned on the pump and away the AF went. Opened the faucet, nothing, HMMM.
I had forgotten to close the low water drains. I now have a very well protect valve compartment. - ggadwaExplorerTraveled from 20 Miles South of Battle Mountain Nevada where it was 22 degrees this morning and all water was fine in the Eagle Cap. Only heating with the Wave 3. This evening in Lakeview Oregon....so far its only 35 degrees out....The EAGLE CAP 950 always seems to do fine until we get into the teens....Sure have a lot of salt spray to get washed off of the truck and camper....Roads were yucky..

Replaced all my low-pressure valve stems on my rig with hi-pressure ones. Glad I found the info on that here on RV.net, the tire dealership replaced them for free and admitted it was a mistake to have installed them in the first place. I looked at the valve stems they had just put on a local ambulance and they had used low-pressure stems. This is perhaps a common problem. - KidooExplorerFinally got the rear dood airtight. I installed a 1/2 inch foam seal on the door frame and a brush type air seal on the door. Now when the door closes, they make a very good seal.
I also fabricated a space under the counter to store my Espresso Machine, can't go without it for a free broue in the morning. - mark_beExplorerIt's only something small (and potentially stupid), but before telling WHAT I did, I'll first tell you why I did it. I actually did only one thing, but had to do with 3 different things. These things are:
1. I've had a bad glowplug relay, which is difficult to find out because it doesn't always happen due to how the relay works (it's a ring that turns a bit every time to get a fresh contact every time, but that works only one turn). Every time you test the relay, Murphy's law decides that you'll get a good contact and every time you need to start, the same law tells the relay not to make a good contact. This makes you search around for the cold starting problem for a long time before you get the problem.
2. I have a solenoid based battery separator and can disconnect it in an emergency with a switch in the wiring to the ground.
3. I've installed an "emergency start" switch. (and have 1/0 AWG to the 3 house batteries)
Well, what do these things have to do with each other, you probably ask. Well, at first I needed to find a place for an LED-light that's wired to the glowplugs to show me that the relay is actually working (found this idea on a forum), 2nd, I also needed a place for another LED-light that shows me that the batteries are connected by the emergency start switch and 3rd I needed a place for the "cut-off" switch.
I wanted everything to be kind of obvious for outstanders to know which led is for what and what the little switch is actually doing there, so - and here it finally comes-sorry about that - so I made a sticker that's going to accommodate both LED's and the miniature switch.
Please let me know if my effort to make it all clear by using this sticker actually worked or not.
This is the sticker (the led's and switch come inside the upper part of the sticker).
Click. - RaftenExplorerNothing to the TC but put new front shocks on yesterday and now the exhaust break won't work. Guess trying to get that drivers side done buggered something. It is a tight place and there are wires right there. I'll start checking fuses and power tomorrow.
