I really hate other drivers. Loading up the rig to go work a horse show and doing my ususal inspections when something caught my eye. The right rear jack was pressed up against the bumper and camper and the mount was folded over. Someone hit it hard enough to do that and took off without leaving a note... good thing the camper was loaded and the jacks retracted. Had to have happened in the past two weeks either when the wife had it at a horse show or when I took it to work while the car was in the shop. Anyways I first loosened the three plate bolts that hook the jack to the plate mounted to the Lance then I undid the lower bent mount. The jack returned to a straight line. Next I levered the mount on the bumper back into position and re tightened the bolts to the upper mount then redid the bumper mount and cycled the jack...works fine. then I lifted the TC on the jacks No flex no noise besides the sound of the electric motor. Whew, got lucky.
Pic is after i straightened the jack, the tube was touching the TC when I first saw it. yes I dropped a few F bombs... I used a wooden wedge against the TC and the flat blade of a pick to bend the bumper mount back into place

I had the same thing happen except it was my doing. I tagged a wood pole pulling out of a tight parking spot. I just banged it back into place. - Buzzcut1Nomad IICussed a bit then got down to work.

- FarmerjonExplorerInstalled Torklift tie downs on the new truck.
Sadly The camper won't be going on for another month or so. After the calves have arrived and then the hay has to get cut and put up and then we can go.
If we are lucky we might be able to take a few days off in between. - trailgranny50ExplorerFinally found an awning that will work on the rear of the camper with our very limited space between door and ladder as well as a full onto the roof ladder obstruction. Ordered a 4'ARB bag awning. Since I can reach the one I DIY (myself) and have the roof rack to attach to it won't interfere with the clearance lights. It was cheaper than the redneck fabricating I was planning on doing! Just have to bend a hook on the end of a couple lengths of flat iron and drill three holes in each and it's on there by Thursday afternoon. With that my renovations on the old Shadow Cruiser are complete...... I think.
- WVbassmistressExplorerRbertalotto,
Very nice!!! - RbertalottoExplorerI did something I've wanted to do for a long time. Change the dinette around.
The table top , that also doubles as the platform for the lower bed, is large and give you very little room when seated at the ends.
So I made a round tabletop which worked well.
But I usually camp alone and at the most, two folks so no one was ever going to be seated behind the table.
And I still had to carry the other, rectangular tabletop to convert the lower bed.
I decided to simply turn the rectangular table top 90 degrees.
I removed the wall cushion and cut 17" out of the middle and mounted a piece of aluminum angle iron to the wall with a strip of Velcro on top.
Moved the pedestal base on the bottom of the tabletop and added another strip of Velcro to the edge
What a HUGE difference! The distance of seating to table is now perfect for eating or using the computer and I have much more table space than the round top. And one less thing to carry with me.
- Big_Rig1ExplorerI replaced the non-digital thermostat that came with my camper with a digital one. It is a heat only one with a fan switch. Previously if I was hooked up to shore power & was heating with an electric heater, the basement circulating fan would not run & the basement could get cold or freeze. Problem solved with this thermostat. Now if I am camping in freezing weather with hookups, I can use the electric heater & turn the fan switch on the thermostat to "ON" and the basement fan turns on to circulate warm air into the basement without turning on the propane furnace. An added bonus is the digital readout on the thermostat is much easier to read & set than the old slide adjustment.
Many thanks to Scott (Zmann) on the Lance Owners web site for all his help.
Big Rig - WVbassmistressExplorerGave it a wash job and cleaned out the inside in preparation to sell it.
Need to do a few little things like repair a tear in the screen.
Recently had air-bags and the Big Ol' Torklift Superhitch installed. Now I feel like a big boy truck. - For those that may not know or recognize the difference between clay and butyl tape:
Butyl tapes is very stretchy.
Clay tape will just basically break when you pull on it.
I was doing a roof vent install today and it took me a good 30 minutes of looking before I found my roll of butyl tape.Reddog1 wrote:
If you re-caulk your window/s, make sure you use the butyl tape, not the clay type. - WNYBobExplorerI got the new "city water" connections and the new hot water tank installed. Replaced a leaking plastic pipe nipple with a brass one and everything is working and dry! We are now planning a trip to a train show in Columbus, OH next month.
