- Camper_Jeff___KNavigatorWell golly Sergeant Carter!
My local SEARS is having a 10% off deal tomorrow only so that takes the SEARS DIEHARD PM-1 Platinum group 31 AGM battery from 279.00 down to about 250.00 each. These spec out about the same as the Lifeline 31 and for 100.00 less per battery. They are supposed to be made by Odyssey and on inspection at the store today, looked great, were very heavy, had screw and post connectors. These have a 3 year replacement warranty on them. I have nothing bad to say of them. The 200.00 saved from buying the PM-1's rather than the lifelines will nearly pay for the new Kyocera KD140 u?u solar panel. Now we're playing with some real boon docking power.
Also get to go to the Seattle RV show this weekend so lots of stuff happening. Looking so forward to that first camping trip of the season.
Jeff - dadwolf2ExplorerToday I ordered a back-up camera system.
- LobocopExplorerToday the plastic vent covers on our Lance were removed and new aluminum covers installed. Those plastic covers really don't like hail.
- Chief_2ExplorerHad a mirror mounted on the closet door for the DW. The way the glass shop did it for me is a great job, but the sucker is way heavier than I wanted. Hope the hinges hold up.

I was looking at that DIEHARD PLATINUM Group 31 Battery too as an alternative to the Lifeline. It specs out about the same weight/performance-wise and has a three year warranty, plus is about 50 to 75 dollars cheaper each. Two of them will fit in my battery compartment easily and they do measure a little larger than the Lifelines. I'd like to know if it's Chinese or not?
Got any knowlege you've gained about them you'd like to share with the rest of us?
I read this on the SEARS website from the link you provided. It says the PM1 DIEHARD PLATINUM is made for SEARS by ODYSSEY.
purchased a PM-1 in May, 2011 to replace an Odyssey PC2150 for dry camping in our RV. The PM-1 is a high quality Absorbed Glass Mat (AGM) battery manufactured by Odyssey for Sears. The PM-1 is similar but not identical to the Odyssey PC2150. The PM-1 weighs 75 lbs while the PC2150 weighs about 78 lbs. Brand new the Odyssey measured 73 AH @ 13.02 VDC (with my Gold IBT intelligent battery tester) and the Diehard PM-1 only 34 AH @ 12.86 VDC. For my purposes the PM1 is plenty but only time will tell about durability. AGM has the advantages of being impact and vibration resistant with a very low self-discharge rate. I highly recommend a charger designed for AGM batteries like the DieHard Platinum Microprocessor-controlled Battery Charger ($90) or one of the high quality recommended chargers on the Odyssey website that cost more (e.g. ProNautic 1250, Odyssey OMAX-40AS-3B, Pro Charging Systems PS3, Charles 93-12405SP-A, etc.) A regular automotive type charger with 15 to 16VDC output will overcharge and destroy an AGM battery. One designed for AGM has an algorithm that limits the bulk/absorption charge to 14.8V with the trickle charge regulated between 13.5V and 13.8V. Your battery charger needs to be a minimum of 40 amps to properly refresh the PM-1. I believe using the 30A power converter in my RV was one reason my PC2150 didn't make it 4 years. See the three step charge profile under "Chargers" at odysseybattery.com.
Hope they work out well for you.

- Silvergray49ExplorerStarted by washing everything from the TT that will go into my TC. Measured all the cabinets and every thing else. Made a sewer hose holder from a vinyl fence post and unloded from the truck for the first time. Still think I made the right choice. Love the new Chalet.
