- Wolf_ManExplorerLong time lurker and did some post a few years back,, but have finally retired a year ago,, and are now getting our brand new ( ok we used it once for 3 nights)2006 Bigfoot camper ( that we did buy in 2006 and has been sitting inside our heated shop ever since) ready and doing some mods to it,,
so far in the last week,
installed battery operated puck led lights,
installed a updated 3 stage converter charger from best converter
a accumulator tank in the water system
4 6-volt Interstate battery's with bank/disconnect switch
resealed the roof completely around every hatch or other opening with 4" eternabond tape
Just picked up a wave 3 heater for install in the nest day or so as Bigfoot ford has (thanks for your install thread)
That is about it besides some little stuff, and will be looking forward to doing a rear porch soon ..
Thanks to all contributors here for the great ideas..
Ralph - Fixed the freezer door in our Dometic RM2453 refrigerator. It wouldn't close tight against the seal. Took longer to find and order the parts than it did to actually install them. Dometic supplied a great set of instructions and others in this forum recommended good places to find parts for our old refrigerator. No more frost issues now!
- Buzzcut1Nomad IIdumped and flushed the Black and Grey water tanks, it's so nice to be able to do it the day after we get back at my leisure at home. Figured out how to remove and replace the hot and cold water drain spitcocks (they leak)
- Mello_MikeExplorerInstalled some clamps where I can store my fishing pole. Pics and a short article on the mod can be found here:
Fishing Pole Mount - ejfranzExplorerInstalled a Fan-tastic vent R4000. Used the putty tape and Snow roof.

Those are some pricey LED lights in that link. I did all my camper LED's for $40 from eBay last year, a total of 17 bulbs converted including the stove hood, pantry, reading lights, bathroom, 14" florescent fixture and the three outdoor flood lights. They are all "warm" temperature range and, except for seeing the LED's behind the lens, you can't tell the difference between these and incandescent bulbs they replaced. They seem to put out a little more light than the original bulbs, but that might be due to the fact they don't dim as the battery voltage decreases during a camp trip.
I recommend searching eBay for LED's in bulk. Many sellers list bulbs in auctions of 10 or more. Find a seller who sells several different styles of LED bubs and send them a message of the type and quantity of LED's you want. Ask them to put together a specific "buy-it-now" auction that is specific to your shopping list of LED's with you as the only person who can buy. (A good eBay seller will know how to put together this sort of package and specific buyer listing with little problem.) I found my seller from China. The LED's took an extra week to clear through customs, but it looks like I saved plenty to go this route.
LEDs have been discussed quite extensively on this forum. It seems what I could get out of the discussions is that with LEDs you get what you pay for. Many have complained about the short life span of the cheaper ebay LEDs.
