Did my least favorite chore. Changing the in rail fuel filter under the truck. It takes a snubbed 5mm allen to remove the plug and drain the fuel water separator so that you don't take a major diesel bath when you unscrew the filter cap, which takes a 36mm socket and you only have enough room to do 1/8th of a turn at a time. Then you have a couple of cups of bad diesel to burn off when you are done.
fuel water separator port is on the side just above the fitting holding the corrugated line on the filter body ( far right of photo) you have to work between the front drive shaft and the frame rail.

FYI.You should only run Motorcraft filters. I preorder them from the local International dealer in town. I had injector issues with the cheaper brands.
I owned an 03 and only had one injector go out. I loved the 6.0 - pjay9ExplorerBuzz...Ford sure does make it a pain. Dodge is on top, but since the fuel pump went away at 122K I decided to go aftermarket pump and filters. They hang under the bed driver's side...two spin off canisters, water sep and partical filters...makes life so much simpler...don't even have to fill the filters when new but always do...the new pump is so much better. Have a great new year!
- K_MacExplorerPut the cover back on after I cleaned Fridays snow off of it. :(

- trailgranny50ExplorerGot carpet cut out and laid in dinette, table changed from north/south to east/west. That short leg remodel was a bugger! Trying to match the crimp on the raw edge of new post took a loooonnnngggg time. Have two video gaming chairs for reclining and TV viewing. Much better arrangement! Added new matching carpet on dinette step up to match while I had the table leg bases off. Not much old faded blue left. Fixed latch on converter door. Still have to install some quarter round and edge cap on carpet edges in dinette and run new electric from spare open breaker to back of dinette for heater on floor. Always tomorrow and it is inside plugged in.
- wvabeerExplorerTurned the heater up a little this morning. I hear the digital displays don't like freezing.
- I washed the truck and camper today.
It was cold again today, 33 ish. The driveway is a skating rink now.
Tomorrow morning I'm heading to Puyallup, WA in my other truck.... which I waxed this morning (it's the one I washed yesterday) - tc-lanceExplorerOur camper is still off, but we are wanting to get rolling away from January in Colorado. Things looked grim a few days ago, when we had 12+ inches of snow on everything. Then, the jet stream moved up north and we got a couple days of 50+ wind and 50+ temps. That cleaned up most of the snow. Today, we headed out to Tractor Supply to get a bed mat, and UPS delivered a new PI power EMS box. We are set to get out of this freezer and head for someplace warmer.
- My camper was off the truck for a spell. I put it back on around Thanksgiving and made a trip to Lewiston, Idaho for the weekend. Since then, it's been under my mega-carport. Today I drove it down to the house and started to wash it, but quickly abandoned that in favor of getting warmed up inside the house and running a few errands.
I'd been outside a good part of the day working cleaning my driveway, and my other two trucks, and I was cold - temp was hovering around 33-34 most of the day.
I will finish the wash job on the dually and truck camper tomorrow. - kayco53ExplorerFixed up the propane system today.New regulator, new hoses,Blew the oil out of the lines.Everything works much better now.Still good for a 40 yr old camper.(Can't believe its that old)
