Part of the National Park maintaince is is removing the storm blown sands from the roads and parking lots. Some of the roads are still under 12 feet of sand from the last hurricane... they abandoned the roads and built new ones. Recently it was decided that the asphalt was causing problems as it breaks down. There are crews digging it up here and there... they take the asphalt to one of the contractors for recycling.
In this picture you can see where the parking lot was scraped early this morning... and where a gust blew a sand fan accross the parking lot.
