Strange things happen when writing a trip report.
Real time: Thursday, Sept 13, 2012... Janet had surgery on her left shoulder to remove bones spurs from her clavicle and her AC joint... and to repair a torn bicep.
They gave her a pain block shot and regular anesthesa for the surgery.
All went well, and we were home A few hours later.
I was observing her as directed and posting to this TR.
She was having a little problem breathing that we attributed to the anesthesa... and it started gettig worse... we phoned the Doctors office... the got him out of surgery and he told us by phone to go to the hospitles emergency room immediately.
We thought they were looking for blood clots....
They ruled out blood clots first (it turns out that blood clots don't happen for a few days after surgery.
They found that the pain block for the shoulder had also paralized her diaphram... which kept the lung on that side from working and it still had the residual anesthea gas in it.
As the pain block wore off she could move her fingers slightly... and the lung started working again, ever so slightly at first... but she was breathing with both lungs.
We got home again at 8PM.
We found out on Friday that our surgeon was afraid that she had a collapsed lung... extremely rare but possible.
She is now doing well. Dreaming of Hawaii.
I'm watching her sleep as I type.
