I've always thought of a fully equiped truck camper and a sail boat as being very close in function... totally free, no need for hook ups, everything needed to be self sufficient.
Of course a sail boat can only go X and Y... our truck campers can go X, Y, and Z... we can climb mountains and decend below sea level as we tour N, S, E, & W in them...
