When we realized that lots of walking... and the crowds in the downtown area were from an "art show" (vendors) we decided to move on... we crossed the Ohio River on a bridge above a dam... heading North just up river from Ghent, Kentucky... heading for Friendship, IN.
To visit The National Muzzle Loading Rifle Association... It has at least a 1000 positions for competitors to shoot from... many out to 600 yards.
There are hundreds of RV trailers there and hundreds of open sites for the weekend crowds. There is a unique atmosphere...a thousand or more guns being discharged toward the targets on the gently sloping hillside.
I went ther often in the 1980's... people respected the privacy of others... they pretended they didn't know who people were in real life... like the Mountain Man that was in every day life "Golden" of the "Oak Ridge Boys"... he just wamted to shoot and dress up like the rest.
The Boy Scouts have a primitive site there... a few were setting up for the weekend. Their area is fenced to isolate them.
If you like flea markets... and weapons... it is the place to be. HUGE numbers of vendors.
Amazing... all of that black powder smoke... and No Smoking signs.
I'll post pictures later.
