If you are looking for cooler temps Kettle Moraine State Park is beautiful an on your way north you could hit Starved Rock State Park in NW IL as well as the historic Hennipin Canal that was suppose to connect the IL and MS Rivers at the turn of the 19th century...plus it's close to our farm! Of course don't delay as the farmers almanac calls for a early and cold winter!
