Then I remembered... a Vented PlatCat needs a source of air to operate and discharge... I had built it in when installing the heater. (Silversand gently fussed at me about solving it at the time....)
I don't need no operation manual review!
The "new" smell went away within minutes of cracking the vent. There had been air infiltration aplenty through small leaks around the slideout or through outside storage compartments, etc. to keep the PlatCat catalyst happy....but the powder coat paint fumes were spreading with the radiant heat.
No pictures could be taken in the dark... I'll have to recreate the vent pics during day light.
Janet was happy when she woke up hours later... and I slept like a baby... knowing that we had safe economical heat... nothing to wake me except the bathroom (it's an old guy thing)
