We continued on to The Upper Falls area where Janets Great Grandfather Roberts had a water powered broom factory. It was long gone... and again the water was high enough from all of the rain that we couldn't even sse the water falls.
The places we passed through were Tornado, Alum Creek, Smith Creek, Spring Hill, and South Charleston... we were just looking at forty years of change... not always to the good.
We had no destination as usual but ended up in Kanawha Ciry, a part of Charleston. They were tearing down the old Watt Powell Park, home to the AAA Charleston Senetor base ball team in the late '50's and early '60's... Janet, her mother and grand mother didn't miss a home game for many years... ending with her grandmothers death in 1960. Memories...
