So, I've worn out your patience... memories
Janet had our first child on Wednesday, November 20, 1963. She went into a coma after our daughter was born. I had a crisis, a seriously ill wife, and a new baby.
We lived in South Charleston, about 3 miles from the hospital... I finally went home to shower and get clean clothes. I was ordered to get some sleep by the Doctor and nurses.
On Friday, November 22, 1963 I was returning to the hospital by way of the Kanawha Blvd... I was very near this corner when all traffic stopped... people left their cars in the traffic lanes... they got out and approached other drivers... we all turned on our radios... listening wirh disbelief.
John F Kenedy had been shot in Dallas!
Janet was still in the coma, she didn't know about it for several days after President Kennedy was assinated. When she finally came out of it they were afraid that the shock of it would cause her to go into the convulsions again. She did get to watch the funeral on TV.
I'll bet that each of you older folks know exactly where you were at that moment in time. I was here.
