Arrived in Alaska at our Site

After our planning for a vacation to Alaska turned into a workamping opportunity, we've arrive at our site outside of Wasilla, AK! This is our first trip to "The Last Frontier", and we couldn't be happier with the way things went with our drive and the experiences to get here.

For those of you who need something to help you sleep at night your can read my Alaska 2013 blog. I've been a little longwinded on it to help appease my grown kids' curiosities. And if that doesn't bore you enough, you can rack your eyeballs by viewing pics at my Alaska Photos.

The only real issue we had is a tire on our 5W go flat in Valdez with a nail puncture. And it must have happened within a block of the campground we stayed at as it was inflated when we pulled in. The Milepost 2013 for all intense and purposes was spot on, and I highly recommend it.

:)Snow days ? Seems like the places that really GET SNOW are able to
have school and get to and from work just fine despite the snow. and the places that only get dumped on occasionally cannot deal with it.
Used to work for the Colorado dept of Highways up in an area between 8000 and 10000 ft elevation. Oodles and oodles of snow "even in the summer"at times, and between us and the counties plows and blades there were never any "snow days"that I can remember. They did cancel the kids little 4th of July parade one summer because of the 10 inches of snow that fell that morning , over a foot on the pass.
spent that holiday in a plow , as most holidays were spent.

Just wanted to comment on your question you asked yourself while in Valdez after the pastor told you we had over 400 inches of snow, how many snow days the schools had. The answer would be none. Great pictures, thanks for posting. We are not going to make it up to Alaska this year so your pictures really help. We attended a football game in Lincoln several years ago and really enjoyed the game and the hospitality of the Cornhusker fans. Have fun up there.

Stupid me did not bring a camera when I went to the Alaska Native Heritage Center a while back.

Not only is Sue the Queen of the camera, she is also the Queen of the Yukon !

Very nice impressive photos along the way and well formatted.....you might want to change the one heading that I noticed of the large beaver picture at Beaverlodge.

Stupid me did not bring a camera when I went to the Alaska Native Heritage Center a while back.

Not only is Sue the Queen of the camera, she is also the Queen of the Yukon !

Being stuck in Houston for the next several weeks, all I can say is that I'm jealous....your pictures of the glaciers, Pioneer Peak, and the Chugach (as well as Anderson Lake and environs) are the PA12's backyard.

Take a left turn when flying to the Knik Glacier and in 10 minutes over the mountains (even in a slow cub) you're over my cabin.

All I can say is for those of us wanna bees that want to be where you are is that "Your Mean" ha ha ha........ Your pictures are awesome. We both enjoyed them while having our morning coffee..... Hopefully we will be able to be up there next year.....
