- brooks379ExplorerI 64 w...I 75N ....I275 W...I 74 W TO INDY. is the way I've always gone or you could go... I 64W TO Louisville.... I 65 N TO INDY. Don't know about 35
- 35 is a good road now and for the most part I believe it is 4 lane divided highway. You would pick it up just west of Charleston from I-64 and it takes you through some beautiful farm country. I would pick up I-70 in Dayton and this takes you straight in to Indy. Beware of speed limits in Ohio, they don't tolerate speeding. It has been 10 years since I traveled Rt 35 now that I'm retired. Through the years they made constant upgrades to that route. It would be your closest route for sure. They have upgraded the speed limits also to reflect the modern design.
- jnharleyExplorerWe always go the same as brooks379. We travel that way at least once a year.
- INBellbuoyExplorerJust did it this fall and took US 35 thru OH, good route. There is some construction on I-75 where it meets US 35 in Dayton. You might check that out, if I recall we took I-675 from 70 down to US 35.
- HokiehallExplorerWe make a trip from Virginia to Chicago each year. While we travel mostly interstate we found a great alternative to the interstate in Kentucky that cuts a bit of distance and time. It is KY route 9 or the AA highway. It is two lane road that runs from Grayson KY along the northern border of KY and OH to the outskirts of Cincinnati where we pick up I-275 west and continue to 74 and on to Indy and then Chicago.
It provides us a great break from the monotonous interstates and passes through some beautiful country. There are passing lanes on most hills and the road is very straight. The primary town along the roughly 100 miles is about midway and is Maysville.
