Best route for 27' Class C from Fresno to Yosemite Valley

I am in Bakersfield now, planning to head to Yosemite Valley tomorrow morning via Fresno. Can I take the shortest looking route (Rte 41) from Fresno to Yosemite Valley, or will that be a problem for a 27' long Class C with 10'8" of height?

My Rand McNally GPS wants me to go from Fresno to Merced on Rte 99, to rte 140, to rte 49 and eventually enter yosemite via rte 120. Seems like a very round about route.
  • Don't get in a hurry. Mostly a 35 MPH road when you get in the park. Enjoy the scenery.
  • No reason not to take 41. I drove it in a 22ft TT + 22ft Truck last year - easy as pie. 41 is a good road all the way into the valley.

FYI - it is curvy mountain grades the whole way.

When you get to Yosemite Valley - be sure to watch which lane you are in. If you end up in the wrong lane - you will end up taking the grand tour around the valley.
  • Thank you both. I agree, a short delay on 41 would be preferable to going the long way. I wonder why the GPS wants me to go that way? It's set for fastest route. Anyway, I will take 41 tomorrow. Thanks again.
  • 41 from fresno is usually a good route, Tour busses take it all the time, but there is presently road construction that states there could be 10 minutes delay and one way controlled traffic. Going up to Merced and taking Hwy 140 will add a lot more miles and driving time so maybe 10 minutes delay would not be too bad.
