Best route to skip New York and DC area going to Boston

You should use I-81, I-84. I lived at BWI airport half my life and don't know how you would get to DC using the routes you mentioned

It's Worcester (no "h"), pronounced "Wister" (no, I don't know how that works!). Interchange is about 20 miles from there. Corrected to make finding things easier.

Google uses 80 and 91 as alternate but that is right through NY city Philly and around Baltimore. We used to live near Baltimore and DC and worked in DC so we know the traffic there.

I-81 to I-84 to I-90, or something very similar. I-81 in PA and I-84 can be a little congested and rough to varying degrees (I-84 especially), but it's still the best route so far as I am concerned.

Out of curiosity, what route were you looking at that goes through the DC and NYC areas? It looks to me like you'd more or less have to go out of your way to hit them.
